SAL Membership

 

SAL Membership Eligibility

All male descendants adopted sons, and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during the period of April 6, 1917, through November 11, 1918, or any time from December 7, 1941, to date, who served honorably, as set forth in Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of The American Legion, or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion.

There shall be no forms or class of membership except an active membership.

How Do I Join?

Joining is easy! Just submit the following information to the Squadron Adjutant:

1. Completed SAL Membership application. Applications are available at the Post or by clicking here.

2. A copy of the applicants qualifying veterans DD 214 or active duty ID card.

3. Squadron 280 dues are:

$20.00 if your age is 15 years of age and below.

$25.00 if you are older than 15.

$20.00 if you are also a member of The American Legion (holding dual membership)

make check payable to American Legion Squadron 280.

Fill out the membership application (located here), print it and mail it with the appropriate DD-214 to the address listed. Someone will contact you ASAP.

OR

Go to www.mylegion.org and join.

If your supplied information is correct, your membership will be approved and a membership card and the supplied DD-214 will be mailed to you.

Transferring Members

Transferring from one American Legion Post Squadron to another is just as easy as joining. Squadron members applying for transfers to our Post must submit the following information:

1. Completed SAL Member Data Form. The form can be found at the Post.

2. Copy of the qualifying veterans DD-214 or active duty ID card..

3. Copy of Membership Card.

4. If current year dues are not paid, make check payable to American Legion Squadron 280. (Dues are shown above).
