Membership Eligibility
If you are on active duty today, anywhere in the world, or have served a minimum of one day federal active service during any of the eligible war eras, you are a veteran and you're eligible to become a Legionnaire! We are veterans also, nearly 3 million strong, who care about America, it's veterans, their families and our nation's youth. The Legion is a powerful voice in Washington dedicated to preserving the rights we've all earned - and were promised - by service to our nation in uniform. We invite you to join us now. Remember, you must have served at least one day of active military duty during the dates below and have been honorably discharged or still be serving honorably.

Apr 6, 1917- Nov 11, 1918;
Dec 7, 1941 - Dec 31, 1946
Jun 25, 1950 - Jan 31, 1955
Feb 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975
Aug 24, 1982 - Jul 31, 1984
Dec 20, 1989 - Jan. 31, 1990
Aug.2, 1990 - present
How Do I Join?
New Membership
1. A completed American Legion Membership application. Applications are available at the Post or click the following link. Click Here.
2. A copy of the applicants DD 214 or their active duty ID card.
3. Your dues payment of $38.00; make check payable to American Legion Post 280.
If the information is correct, your membership will be approved and a membership card will be mailed to you.
