Defense officials have announced that TRICARE will now offer free vaccines including shingles vaccine for beneficiaries age 60 and older through their retail pharmacy network.
Free vaccines previously were only offered only in military hospitals and clinics.
TRICARE recommends calling your pharmacy in advance to ensure the vaccine is in stock and a pharmacist is available to administer it.
To find a participating pharmacy, call 1-877-363-1303
This number will also list other vaccines and age restrictions.
VA Scam Report - - Scam - Patient Care Group - Scam
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has received many reports that veterans are being contacted by "Patient Care Group" claiming they are helping administer VA prescriptions. Callers are telling unsuspecting vets that the VA’s pharmacy billing procedures have changed and they are therefore requesting veteran credit card numbers for prescription payments in advance of filling their prescriptions. This is false. VA does not call veterans asking to disclose personal financial information over the phone and the VA has not changed its processes for dispensing prescription medicines.

WARNING TO VETERANS
Forwarded by Kevin Secor, VSO Liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
An organization called Veterans Affairs Services (VAS) is providing benefit and general information on VA and gathering personal information on veterans. This organization is not affiliated with VA in any way. http://www.vaservices.org/us/index.html VAS may be gaining access to military personnel through their close resemblance to the VA name and seal. Our Legal Counsel has requested that we coordinate with DoD to inform military installations, particularly mobilization sites, of this group and their lack of affiliation or endorsement by VA to provide any services. In addition, GC requests that if you have any examples of VAS acts that violate chapter 59 of Title 38 United States Code, such as VAS employees assisting veterans in the preparation and presentation of claims for benefits, please pass any additional information to Mr.Daugherty at the address below. Changes to the Priority Group 8 Enrollment Restriction
In 2003, VA made the difficult decision to stop enrolling new Priority Group 8 (high income) Veterans in order to assure all Veterans are provided timely and quality medical care. New regulations have been proposed that would allow certain Priority Group 8 Veterans to be enrolled in the VA health care system if their household income does not exceed the current VA income thresholds (means test threshold and/or geographical means test threshold) by more than 10%. We anticipate the new regulations to take effect in June 2009.
Denied Enrollment On or After January 1, 2009
If you have applied for enrollment on or after January 1, 2009 and you were denied enrollment because your income exceeded the VA income threshold, VA will determine if you are eligible under this new rule, once the new regulations take effect. You will not need to submit another application for enrollment. If you are eligible under this new rule, we will notify you by mail. You will receive a letter from the VA Health Eligibility Center notifying you of your eligibility for enrollment and welcoming you to the VA health care system. Included with the letter will be instructions for getting care and how to obtain a Veterans Identification Card.
